Made some clean passes today
So my dad wanted to go to Lapeer so we went late, but still got enough passes to make it worth while. I was extremely happy with my results seeing as how I couldn't get better than a 2.3 60' at Milan last month. Maybe I just learned how to drive, who knows.
Here are the breakdowns of my 3 runs: 60ft 2.105 ET 12.149 MPH 123.50 60ft 2.132 ET 12.227 MPH 122.64 After this run, my car was overheating, and my coolant tank was overflowing, so I let the car sit for a little while, then went on my last pass. 60ft 2.154 ET 12.200 MPH 124.79 The end of this video has my last pass in it. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/S...and_707049.htm

Thanks man it was a good time for sure. I liked the fact that I was there for the last 45minutes and got to run 3 times with cool down time. I would've had to be at Milan for 4hrs to match that. I saw the Cavi looking good. Was was your highest trap cause I know you went into the 12's when I was watching you race that 2.5 turbo Impreza.

That was my friend Jay, I had the silver C5 Z06 but only made one pass due to problems. So for the rest of the day I shared driving my wife's blue evo IX.
I like Lapeer, people rag on it however at least you can go and actually run your car and don't have to sit in the staging lanes all day (separate from your friends) to only make 3 silly passes. Jay did make it into the 12s, he just made a post about it in this section. I think his traps were 108-109. |

Nice runs!
Lapeer is great for shake down and just practice....But comparing Lapeer times to Milan times is like comparing numbers on two different dynos.... It has been proven that the 1/8 MPH is way off and the MPH in the 1/4 is about 2MPH high in the right lane....Left lane "seems" to be "ok"...

Eh, on street tires I would just roll off the line feathering it as much as you can. Launching it like that is going to kill your 60'. My friend Matt was pulling 1.8-1.9 60' with a bone stock SRT just feathering it.

Well in my car I really cant feather the throttle due to how laggy the turbo is. After all it is only a 1.65L with a short stroke, so boost response is not gonna be like a 2.4L SRT4 with a stock turbo. I really think I can do even better, so I might come back to Lapeer this month and give it a try. Next season I'll refresh my ancient suspension and get slicks on the car so 1.7 60' times are very possible. I use the 2 step to build some boost just so I can ease out when it starts to spin bad and still have some boost on hand.

Thanks Rawburt and Dropspeed. You will both still walk me in a quarter though. With slicks it would be a good run.

Have you ever tried to launch in 2nd gear? A lot of the fast drag hondas use to do that back in the day, not sure if they still do? My old ITR would run the exact same times starting in 1st or 2nd
The Integra Type R had a 2.0 tall deck stroker motor (all motor, 215whp / 168lbft on the Payn/SI dyno) weighed in at 2200lbs with a 4.785 final drive on 205/50/15 drag radials 13.3 at 105, 1.9 60ft You have way more power than that car did and the 2nd gear start worked fine in it to reduce wheel spin. It was just a hard concept at first to try. Now on the other had my SRT4 (13.0 at 105, 1.9 60ft intake, exhaust, stage 1 reflash) did not like the second gear start. Might be something to try? Yeah AWD is like cheating. I made 8 passes last weekend on road race tires (hard sidewall) and ran 1.60 to 1.68 60 foots -Matt

Lapeer for some reason seems to be one of the better hooking tracks around... at least according to the times that you get there.

X2!! Try second gear. We were down in the city racing my friends SRT. First gear was giving us hell but we tried second gear and it was 10x better. Then again... this was on city streets.

Thanks for the interest everybody.
Matt I'll try launching it in 2nd on the street, but my guess is it'll bog as soon as I get off the clutch due to the turbo lag. I'm sure it works well for some cars, so I'll give it a shot. As for my turbo, it's rated to 450hp (not sure if the ratings are crank or whp). Garrett t3/t4 57trim .63a/r hotside journal bearing. I could turn it up to 25psi on race gas, but I'm worried about the stock valvetrain giving out. I have heard horror stories of a stock retainer cracking, dropping a valve into onto the piston and spitting out metal parts into the turbo. Sooner or later, I'll find a race head fully assembled for cheap. Until then pump gas holding 18-19psi is very consistent and I'm happy with it.
