It's not "some dude" it's the patent holder's site.

Well, actually, that is the squish area in a DSM head. I don't know how hip you are to squish but there are two flat areas in the DSM combustion chamber that are designed to "squish" the air/fuel charge and promote better combustion through increased turbulance and cooling . The grooves you see are within the squish area.

Squish is very big in the two stroke world but apart from Magnus http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/images/4g63piston.jpg , it is largely ignored in the sport-compact scene.

That being said, my friends in the know tell me that Singh's grooves do not work on high performance engines.

It's an new Eagle bottom end, as long as it gets oil and the guy has a reasonable tune, the motor should hold up. If not, he can always repaint it

Patent holder still equals some guy. I can patent anything- doesn't mean it actually works.

Like I said, I'm curious, I just require more proof to become a believer. That's all.

Why don't they work on high performance engines if they work in a two stroke? Do they work better when the valves aren't there?

I find his running the valves on a drill press rather inaccurate, personally. As well as not checking clearances in the bearings.

That being said, I've seen shoddier work hold up to, I will admit, but not in a performance application. I mean, some of the stuff people in Cuba do to keep cars on the road... wow. But it's not like he's in a third world country with no machine shops or engine building knowledge.

The video of it running doesn't sound to promising either, but it sounds more like timing in there maybe.... dunno.

    Singh grooves

yes ANYONE can file for a patent, 90% of patents filed are REJECTED, not just anyone can get a GRANTED patent, I know, I have filed a few myself.

This is not JUST SOME GUY, he was a rocket scientist for NASA,

BTW WHO ARE YOU? poignant, you are that JUST SOME GUY. Sorry to rail on those who think they know everything, as we say in the Military, "TOE THE LINE, OR GET SMOKED".

For the senior members see if you can comprehend this as most of you wont.

In fluid dynamics there is a phenomenon created when air passes a corner, whether a building or groove, the air is torn apart into a violent vortex which is also known as wind shear.
It is this concept that make use of in wind energy. Normally it is an undesired effect that you don't want a conventional horizontal axis turbine running in the wake created by another turbine, as you all should know that jets practically fall out of the sky when flying into another jets' wake.

The newest prototype urban wind turbines use this vortex effect to run vertical axis turbines on city buildings, making use of the one effect that destroys others.

Putting a groove WITH corners, not multi-angle as in a valve job, again makes use of what would normally be the undesired effect, vortex, wake and shear.

As all you so-called experts should know there is already an oxymoron in the ICE, where we are trying to mix 2 essential components to create the heat expansion, of course it is the temperature differential converted to rotary power that we see as POWER.
We have 1 component :fuel (gas, enthanol, etc.)the combustible fuel ,that is in LIQUID state, and the other essential component which is not air, but the OXYGEN in the air that has to be present in order to support the combustion event, that is in a GAS(gaseous not truncated for gasoline) form.
With this mis-match of phase states (google search and you will find) it is nearly impossible to get the stoichiometric ratio of 14:1, again except for the senior members you need to dig back into the books, or google.

Now for anyone still keeping up (very doubtful), you should be able to put 2+2=4?

Are you sure those grooves can't be proven to be beneficial using science? (in Greek it means 'knowledge')

Someone looks to be trawling the Intarwebz to find people badmouthing the New Glorious Messiah of the ICE. If it works, cool, if it can't be proved to work, is it just like that 100mpg Carburetor?

    LOL, trolling maybe.
The reason those don't work as intended is they forgot about all the "hot spots" this creates causing pre-ignition. Might be good on a compression ignition engine.
