I made 501 on a stock lower end (Dynojet). Just tune carefully and that motor can really perform.

Im sorry but on the third engine to make that hp is kind of rediculous. I know the car moves out, but its an 11 sec car on spray thats gone through 2 power plants already? Best of luck come spring, I would hope that a built bottom end can handle the power to make a full season for you.

My car runs, but it's experiencing problems. I'm journeying down a road less traveled. You have to be a pioneer, visionary & not afraid to fail, in order to succeed.

My JE pistons say there 8-1, but after my experience. I can comfortably tell you that there higher then that. - the mumbo jumbo, I have uncontrollable knock under any load. I'm sure it stems from the fact that there higher compression ratio is throwing off my timing\knock tables.

I was breakin the car in, and experienced a knock issue that damaged something in the engine. No knock while idling, no smoke, oil pressure is good, and no metal in the oil. I can rev the engine in neutral, can't hearing nothing. Under load at 2500-3500 there's a noticeable knock, that my guess is a wrist pin. Either way, it will have to come out again.

I'm not really upset about it, as the car hasn't ran all summer. Even if the car was done, I couldn't mess with it. It will give me the time, patients to regroup and formula a new attack plan.

I set out on a mission when 1st took the car apart. The only failure in life is death. I promise when the car is done, it will hand out smiles. My goal is 500-600whp, we'll see what it runs. It's going to be a nasty bitch when it's done. I'm a 99% street racer, so it should run a 10 from a 30-40 roll.

Thanks ED for the cheap flexplate!!! That now resides in my tranny now!!! I guess thats payback for when Rob & You couldn't get your stock turbo off & I had to do work!!!

wow i am sorry to hear that, my stock bottom end with 70k on it, 100shot and 25psi through the stock turbo still runs great and has perfect compression of 155psi across all 4 cylinders, after 10 bottles, all bottles were ran at 1300psi. and my car put down 460+whp

The dome of the stock piston requires/allows crazy timing. Get that timing pulled back asap. What are you using to tune?

Power is not about more timing, its about the right timing.

It's 8:1 with a certain sized combustion chamber. This is why you double check everything - cc the heads to figure out how large the combustion chamber actually is to see if it's actually 8:1 or not. Even the head gasket you use and whether or not you had the head/block decked will make a difference.

Here's a quick calculator to do the math:

That sounds like a tuning issue moreso than hardware.

You should be able to run 11:1 comp and under simple load it won't matter. (w/ correct tuning)

I'd dive into the tuning a bit more, or after you investigate the wrist pins, post back. I'd be curious.

Can you post the dyno chart? I'd like to see that.
