I just watched one of the vids to see what the program is about. The ab ripper x doesn't seem too different from my normal ab routine. I will have to see the other workouts before I make any decisions but as of right now I think I am just going to take some exercises away from these videos and just try to crank up the intensity on my daily grind and the diet.

    Day 1 for me.

I woke up at 5:50 am which sucked but I figure I need to do these in the morning since doing them at night gives me too much of a chance to skip one due to things going on.

Chest & Back went just like last week just not quite as bad although I did start getting a little queasy at the end.

Ab Ripper X .. ugh. First off, I should have watched the DVD last night to know what I was getting into. I feel that going into it blind actually isn't a good idea, just to get the feel for the exercises you'll be doing. Even if I had watched it though, it's quite obvious that my mid section is horribly out of shape and possibly has zero muscle there right now. I couldn't hold myself properly for any of the exercises and I did miserably at everything I tried. My form was horrific and I'm certain I got nothing out of that routine.

But I did it. Day one is complete, I know that as time passes I'll build the muscle up to properly be able to do these exercises. I shall prevail.

good luck Pat! As Tony Horton says... BRING IT!

I hate that phrase but I keep saying it. As sucky as it is, I'm latching on to it for my motivation.

    Day 1

Just finished the workout. And lets just say I'm a little out of shape. I tried do some of the ab workouts the best I could. I definitely didn't do 25 reps on all of them. Over time I have to build myself up to them.

So far I have followed the diet pretty well.

if this is your first day of working out in a long time, be prepared for a week of soreness hell... other than that...

    Werd...

I was struggling with about half of the ab stuff. I always thought I was in decent shape (besides that little bit of roundness in the belly). Guess I was completely absolutely undeniably wrong.

Anyways, Day 1 is done for me. My arms feel like rubber bands.

If anyone experiences extreme soreness, I'd give it some rest too. At least do not work the same muscles that are sore for several days and wait for them to feel fully recovered. I know this is a "90 day program" but that is sort of assuming you are ready for it to be a 90 day program. I think there is nothing wrong with it becoming a 100-110 day program if for the first week or two muscle recovery takes longer than it would if you were in better shape. Might have to take it a bit slower at first, no shame in that either it's the smart way If you're muscles are sore then they are broken down and need to be rebuilt. No sense in going at them until they have had ample time to rebuild themselves better than they were, improvements then will come.

I am going to get back onto this today, long weekend. Last session was Friday, arms and shoulders. I did not print out that log though so I have no progress stats to compare my next one to. It's weird I need to drop the weights down slightly due to the volume to the routine, there's a lot more than my old routines where I stuck to just a few exercises per muscle.

yeah guys keep in mind this program is for people that are already in good shape. this isnt a couch potato to fitness model thing, its more of a guy that goes to the gym regularly but needs to cut up kind of routine. might be better off running and doing basic starting fitness routines for a month or 2 before starting p90x

yes, i've already mentioned this... i have some concerns about tomorrow's plyometrics routine... i watched about half the routine and if anyone on here is going to be truly realistic about the shape they are in, they would realize that there is no way they would make it thru it, the trainer talks of a substitute (cardio x) to get you up to speed for plyometrics... this might be a better choice for the first 3 weeks here as it's lower impact... what's the point of doing something that you wont even come close to completing? versus doing something more realistic (cardio x) and it's a valid substitute (per the trainer)... i'm not talking about "changing" anything... this sub is allowed... plyometrics are NOT for beginners... and they are high impact... keep this in mind... anyone who has injuries especially... i have a torn acl on my left knee i never got fixed... and im a bit apprehensive about this... i have a medical brace and when it's time i will wear it but im not sure at this point i will be doing plyometrics... i dont care what shape anyone's in... i think even lance armstrong would struggle with this routine... with that said, day 1 is done and it was brutal... agreed with pooshda... we gotta take it easy and be aware of what our bodies can truly do... going over 90 days is more realistic... bring it... show up... keep pressing play... we can all do this... watch the diet... 80% of results come from a clean diet... if you think you can eat junk while doing this and get any real results, play frisbee with the dvd's, you might burn more calories... the rest, bring it!

Yeah, watching tomorrow's Plyo workout has me thinking that's just a recipe for fail. He even says at the beginning that if you're not in good shape, don't even try it. I think I might substitute Cardio X.

I want to do the plyometrics at some point but I need a better place to do it, only option is in here because I don't want to be watched by people in the house or some shit when I am working out. Can't stand that, it bothers me for some reason. I will stop lifting if someone walks in like a jackass and just stares at me uncomfortably.

If I jump around in this room I am afraid I may go into the crawlspace, the house is pretty old and the floor has a slight little sag in the middle so who knows what's up with it, some kind of damage.

Just got done with Day 2 substituting Plyo X with Cardio X. As can be expected, they lost me a lot and my TV isn't cooperating in the basement so I had to watch it on my laptop which led to a lot of me breaking the exercise to see what they were doing.

I still brought it as best I could, I'm horribly out of shape but this wasn't all that hard. I think they expect you to have a lot of room on the superman/banana routine which is hard on a single mat. They flip over without assistance, I have to practically roll in place to keep from falling on the floor. Sigh.

Oh well, day 2 is done and tomorrow is day 3. No quitting.

The rewarding feeling will definitely come in time, once you get there or start seeing results you'll feel so good and know the temporary hell you put yourself through was worth it. (I say temporary because after a while you start to love it once you've adapted)

I have slacked off a bit in the past week though, I got a couple intense workouts in but my diet has been lacking. When I say lacking, I mean lacking in consumption not in eating the wrong foods or anything. I have felt tired and lethargic for the past several days now, gotta get eating big again. No Idea what my issue is..
