There aren't too many places to go mountain biking around my area. Most people have road bikes, because it's mostly flat, paved paths.

I'm sorry, I just reread my thread and I sounded like a tool. That whole sarcasm thing you know. I was just responding to Matt because he knows I ride both mtn and road.

Anyways, I road bike and mtn bike and really have respect for all things powered by pedals...heck, I won't even laugh and point at a guy on a recumbant.

You mean I can't point and laugh at people on Recumbant bikes? DANG IT ALL!

I just took the Trek roadie out to one of my cousin's for a tune up..I figured you were too busy Dave...lol. My cousin Zac is a mechanic at American Cycle and Fitness. Tuneup, new shift cables, and a tire switcheroo for a 12 pack of PBR...mmm

Dave's sense of sarcasm doesn't always translate well online

The one on the top is my Specialized Allez with most of it's OEM bits over a year ago. Lights, computer, and rear bottle rack aren't OEM obviously.

    2x7 with a standard double.
    Specialized big picture:

    Since then:
Moved the crankbros pedals to the MTB, got Look copies <- both are awesome, but the CB didn't give me a firm feel to the shoe sole, the Looks keep you in there.

got hit by a car in September:

new wheels - borrowed some Richey WS DS trainers from my boss - dreaming of something nice

Put on a compact crank. BEST THING EVER, if you live in hills like me - my commute is 3 miles round trip with a total of 450' of climbing (and obviously 450' of decent too lol), which would be a 3% grade, if it were the whole trip, but because it's about half up and half down (not very much flat), it's 6% on the ups . FSA crank using the OEM square taper cheap ass BB.
Got to get some new bar tape too, white gets dirty fast, and you can only keep it clean for so long

    Too many bikes I think.....

1994 GT Karakoram (MTB commuter with 26x1.25 slicks)
2005 Trek 1000SL (road bike) Trek is stock other than new tires, Bontrager Inform RL saddle (soo nice), and a few bottle cages (and a full tuneup). I think I'm going to flip the stem tonite. I'm not really diggin' the upward angle that it's at currently.

    2009 Novara Carema (road bike)

    2006 Scott Voltage YZ4 (mtb)
2006 Scott Voltage YZ4 (mtb, just a bit smaller than above)
198? Cilo (Vintage Swiss Columbus SLX road bike *campy/dura-ace/Suntour Cyclone, etc..)

195? Ross Cruiser (in pieces waiting to be painted/restored)
198? Panasonic Sport 1000 (single speed road bike)

1984 Schwinn LeTour (chromo road bike)

Yikes...maybe I need to clean out the stable..

I'm no where near the level you cats are at...but, I picked up a Giant OCR-3 road bike a few years ago. I was looking for an entry-level, starter bike and this definitely fit the bill.

It's an XL frame, and yes I need to ride it with the seat that high. The guy that fit the bike said I was really close to needing a custom-built bike. Unfortunately, I don't want to drop that kinda coin. Joys of being 6'6" with a 36"+ inseam.

I'm not at any level...lol...I've got 2 decent/modern roadies, and a bunch of old ones lol.

Sora gruppo? Tiagra? Looks good to me! I wondered what size frame you'd need, you are a VERY tall dude

I have Sora shifters on my Trek (With a Tiagra RD), and, sure the thumbshifters are annoying as you can't shift while in the drops, but they "function" just fine. 2009 Tiagra shifters are REALLLY nice though. My cousin works at a Trek dealer as a mechanic, and he said from what he can tell 09 Tiagra shifters are like previous 105's.

It's alll YOUR fault that your so damn tall. I thought I was tall at 6'1", but I realize how wrong I am whenever I run into you.

I may need to upgrade my shifters before too long. They're cheap, no getting around that, but they're starting to slide around a bit and tightening them doesn't seem to be cutting it. I'll probably need to have it in for a tune-up/adjustment before I hit things hard this year. We'll see as I've been slacking the last couple of years.

    Could be cable tension too.

But getting 105 or Ultegra shifters is next on my list - I want to upshift from the drops damn it!
That and I rode a full Ultegra bike a couple weeks ago and the front shifted so damn smooth

If his bike is a few years old, I'd just replace the cables. That's what I did. Sometimes those cables will fray inside the shifter, and from what I've heard if the cable breaks in there, it's a MAJOR PITA to get out.

I don't have a good pic of my bikes.

My road bike is a diamondback painted flat black with 105s and a nice aero ritchey wheelset. Nothing spectacular but I picked up the bike for $180 and the wheelset for $100

My mtn bike is a Rocky Mountain hardtail. LX/XT/XTR, hydraulic discs, and fox fork. Got it used last year and finally starting to feel at home on her.

I don't know...I might sell my Trek...I should have bought a used, older steel framed bike I think.

But why? What's wrong with the aluminum Trek?
