1986 poniac trans am convertable 5.0 RARE car.
Im selling it on xceed for my dad its Rarly drivin sits in garage 1 more year and its a classic. asking 6500 obo paint is in P condition no rust anywhere. runs great no problems 112000 miles very clean car must see!! comes with 2 sets of rims. interior is very clean it was his car show car.

I am curious about this car. I know that the Firebirds were not available as a convertible until 1991, but ASC did do Dealer conversions from 1987-1989, however I have only seen one other 1986. Some of my questions I have may be rather confusing.

1) What engine does it have? From the pictures I can tell it is an automatic, I was just curious if it had the TPI (tuned port Injection) or the 4BBL.
2) The paint appears to be original, do you know whether it has had any paint work?
3) The ASC convertibles in 1986 to early 1988 model year had a trim piece on the top of the doors, If you look at the rear quarters, there are the caps that cover parts the conversion. On the early cars they had a short piece about 6" or so long on the doors that extended the caps, the picture of the car you have there does not have them. So that raises some questions about possibly when the car was converted.
4) With the above, I would be curious if you could get me the VIN with a picture of the ASC decal on the drivers side door jamb, as it would have a date of conversion. The decal typically is on the body side, under the bolt. It should have ASC on the decal.

More or less the VIN and a picture of the decal would tell me the following...

1) What engine it came with originally
2) I could verify the year from the VIN ( I realize you say it is a 1986 )
3) I could narrow down the approximate month when the car was made
4) I could verify the plant it was made at Either Norwood OH, or Van Nuys CA.
5) The ASC decal would tell me when it was converted by ASC.

That information should answer some of my questions, or more questions...

the guy he bought it from years ago told him it was a consept car but he doesnt know if thats true or not and its the 5.0 tpi paint is original and in great condition! and i can get you more pics and a vin

While I am thinking about it, could you get me some better pictures of the drivers seat, engine compartment, & trunk area. Also the top of the rear trunk, top of the spoiler etc, as those tend to be problem paint areas.

If you had the time, I would also like to see pictures of the bottom of the trunk lid, and the bottom of the doors.
