having driven the camaro SS and ...not even a mustang of any type... being a GM fan in the first place i'd have to say GT500. Chevrolet missed the mark for the camaro so hard. it's a fuckin 4100+ pound tank. It looks cool, goes alright... but meh. no amount of shocks / springs can hide the fatness.

This would be a more fair comparison...maybe a little more in $$ but sweet none the less.

well i just took a peek at the gt500 in the showroom and its $50k. went on chevy's site and built an optioned out camaro and it was $44k.
i would choose the gt500 over the camaro in all accounts. it'd have to be grabber blue with white stripes, or just maybe black with gold stripes for the retro throwback look. in my opinion the mustang gt and gt500 are a little off pace for their comparable classes. in car and driver's recent test the mustang gt beat out a base camaro ss and challenger rt overall. however when the gt500 up against a corvette gran sport, the gran sport beat it in basically all accounts except for being a capable drift car. i still think with some tasteful wheels, better and lower suspension, and maybe a rear brake upgrade to match the fronts is all a car like the gt500 could need. i havent driven any of the new camaros for comparison though

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3QNXkxUZ9o There's one thing you can't argue about. LS motors sound like raw power, no drama, no fancy cylinder head optimized for a distinct noise, just flow. Speaking of raw LS3 power, full bolt on corvette, with the only internal mod being a cam, drag radials. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/E...NLY_160861.htm Oh... Chevy will always win for the cost vs horsepower ratio. Huge reason to go with the bowtie in this case. Just all around the better car.
