At the very least, wear your helemt and gloves. The jacket; invest some good money into it. You will love it, especially when it gets cold.

These bikes will disappear from underneath you faster than you can say 'oh snap!'..by that time you will already be on the ground wondering what happened, and then thanking the gear that you are wearing which enabled you to stand back up and live another day!

Thank you! I am glad im not the only person left that thought we have some freedom left in american to live as we please. I get so god damn mad when people are like wheres your helmet, wheres your jacket, ride safe, etc. I want to tell those people "How about you mind your own god damn business!"

I was riding with a group of guys the other day saying things like "I saw this guy and he was wearing a tshirt and flip flops, i hope he crashes and kills himself!" meanwhile these guys are wearing gear, but doing wheelies at 130mph while passing traffic.

Its double standards in my opinion. If someone wants to take extra measures to protect their body from harm -- im fine with that. im not fine with people jamming their beliefs down my throat. I hate seat belts and i hate helmets, no amount of crash statistics will change that i want my freedom.

I have to agree, i bought my bike in march and have been riding 5 days a week to work. i got a tourmaster jacket and its been a night in day difference in riding comfort. 35-39 degree's and i stayed completely warm. Before i got that jacket i was bundleing up with layers of shirts and sweaters but it was a huge difference once i got the tourmaster. The safety aspect is an added bonus but i chose to wear it to stay snuggly warm and dry.

Sure, but what about everyone else's freedom? Everyone's (motorcycle and health) insurance rates going up because you choose to not wear gear? How about the pain that you would put your loved ones through because of a debilitating brain injury?

Please, folks let's remember that we aren't in this by ourselves. Our actions have a real impact on the people around us, whether we know them or not.

I for one don't want to see another rider get injured needlessly because they didn't take the appropriate precautions when riding (and yes, those precautions include NOT doing wheelies @ 130).

Exactly. Another rider crashed into me at 120mph; I was going 60mph. If I wasn't wearing my gear I wouldn't have any skin and possible no bone on my left arm and no skin on my back. +1 for joe rocket

i was in ohio the other day and saw a bunch of people riding with no helmets. it scared the shit out of me. I thought it was stupid as hell.

Just from experience i was riding and hit a patch of gravel at 80mph and i actually felt my head hit the cement pretty hard before rolling over several time. but with the helmet it felt kind of good. my brains would be on the cement if I had not had the helmet on. I want going fast or anything, just cruising. Shitty part is I was only wearing a vest and had road rash for a good month i could not move my arms for a month or more. If i did I would start bleeding from the rash. Could not eat, took an hour to change my cloths

How tight/loose should a mesh jacket be on your arms and torso?

I NEVER ride without gear. Just a habit. I know it's not "cool" to ride with protective gear on, but better to be safe then sorry. Helmet (wether Full Face or Half, Vega Jacket with shoulder, back, and elbow armor, and ventilated), Steel Toe boots, and gloves.
