I myself have never heard of this UFO incident that occurred in the desert sands of NM in 1948.
    Interesting story! Have a gander.

    Believing is not enough!

The Aztec Incident: The lesser known cousin of The Roswell Incident.

The story of the Aztec Incident first surfaced in the book Behind Flying Saucers, written by former gossip columnist Frank Scully. The book appeared in 1950. The incident itself was said to have occurred two years earlier, in March, 1948. Scully told of a flying saucer which had landed in a remote part of New Mexico, near the town of Aztec. Oil drilling was about the only thing that went on in that part of the world, and the UFO had first been spotted by some oil workers. They passed the word and soon the authorities arrived on the scene and sealed off the area.

Teams of expert scientists were present and, for a period of two days, examined the object only from a distance using a variety of instruments. The disc was around 100 feet in diameter and, at its centre, sat a cabin. Eventually, the scientists moved closer. They could see a number of what appeared to be glass portholes around the circumference of the cabin. One of the portholes was broken. Peering through the broken porthole, they could see the inert bodies of sixteen small humanoid beings lying around. The occupants were dead. Inserting a long stick through the broken porthole, they were able to press a button which opened a door on the exterior of the craft.

Moving inside, they examined the dead bodies of the aliens more closely. All wore dark blue overalls and bore no sign of rank. Each being was between three and four feet in height. The bodies were charred. The investigators surmised that the aliens had died either in space or while in the earth’s atmosphere, possibly as a result of the broken porthole. It appeared the vehicle had landed itself using some kind of automatic pilot mechanism. Scully speculated that perhaps secret radar facilities in the area had been the source of the problem.

In the craft, sheets with indecipherable alien writing were found as well as assorted other strange objects. Scully was told that some of these were pilfered by soldiers as souvenirs.

Since the craft was too large to be transported as it was, it was decided to dismantle it. The disc was broken up into sections and each section transported to Wright Field air base in Ohio on the back of a lorry. There the saucer was extensively analysed, though scientists reportedly learned little of its internal workings.

    Mysterious Fairy Circles Are 'Alive'

Walter Tschinkel may not have solved the mystery of the fairy circles, but he can tell you that they're alive. Tens of thousands of the formations—bare patches of soil, 2 to 12 meters in diameter—freckle grasslands from southern Angola to northern South Africa, their perimeters often marked by a tall fringe of grass. Locals say they're the footprints of the gods. Scientists have thrown their hands up in the air. But now Tschinkel, a biologist at Florida State University in Tallahassee, has discovered something no one else has.

Tschinkel first encountered fairy circles in 2005 on a vacation to the NamibRand Nature Reserve, a private nature park dedicated to conserving the local ecology and wildlife in southwestern Namibia, where his local guide introduced him to the strange land forms. "I looked at them and said, 'Obviously, they're caused by termites,' " he recalls. Perhaps the insects were killing the grass from below, or maybe they were giving off gases that were poisoning the vegetation. But when he and his wife returned to the region in 2007 and excavated a handful of fairy circles, they found no evidence of termites. Other experiments—adding essential nutrients such as zinc to the fairy circles or replacing the soil inside the circles with the soil from outside the circles—didn't cause the vegetation to grow back, suggesting the formations are not the result of a lack of nutrients.

So Tschinkel turned to satellite images. By comparing photos taken over a 4-year period, he confirmed something other scientists had suspected: The circles were alive—or at least they were dynamic. A number of circles appeared and disappeared over this time period. Extrapolating from the data, Tschinkel calculated that most smaller circles arise and vanish every 24 years, whereas larger circles last up to 75 years. Overall, the lifespan averaged 41 years.

To confirm his results, Tschinkel crunched data collected from the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Over the past 10 years, the park has sold fairy circles to ecotourists for about $50 each. The buyers don't actually get the land; they just adopt it—kind of like people who "purchase" stars. Each circle the reserve sells is marked with the date of sale, and new owners are given the latitude and longitude so they can check up on their purchase on Google Earth.

Live Chat: Are We Training Too Many Scientists? Thursday 3 p.m. EDT
Tschinkel's friends at the reserve revisited the sold fairy rings and took photos to estimate the amount of regrowth that had occurred over the years. From the number of fairy circles that had died or started to die over the past 2 to 9 years, Tschinkel calculated that the fairy circles had an average age of about 6 decades. "It gives me some confidence that we really are talking about a lifespan of about 30 to 60 years," he says.

Very few researchers have taken the time to investigate the fairy circles, and their work is usually based on opportunistic experiments done on quick trips, Tschinkel says. "There's no program really focused on trying to figure this out."

Fairy circle aficionados are impressed. "Tschinkel does deliver a superb product for a one-man band," says Carl Albrecht, the head of research at the Cancer Association of South Africa, who occasionally researches and publishes on the mysterious spots as a hobby. "These are beautiful synergies between Google Earth, satellite photographs, aerial photographs, and actual observations on the ground."

In the future, Tschinkel hopes to return to the region to conduct tests at different times of year, as some of his data indicate that circles tend to form after the rainy season. He acknowledges that he may never get to the bottom of what causes the fairy circles—and that's just fine with others. During a recent trip, a local conservationist told Tschinkel that he hopes the fairy circles remain a mystery for years to come. "I certainly can sympathize with that sentiment," Tschinkel says. "But that doesn't mean I'll stop trying to understand."

These lights appeared over a field where a rancher keeps his cattle. The lights appear to slowly move above the tree line then move below the trees. The lights appeared in the middle of the night when allot of the ground was covered in a thick layer of fog. I originally posted this video for Angela a few days after she recorded it. I removed this video when one subscriber said this was farm equipment. After taking a day time picture of the tree line and matching a few frames of video to the day time picture. It looks like these lights were to high in the sky to be farm equipment. I have reposted the video. I don't claim this video to be anything except strange lights at night, in fog, over a field where a rancher lets his cattle graze. Due to the fog, not all of the video is clear or in focus. The video segments shown here are some of the best footage recorded. Angela was outside while recording this video. When the lights started to move quickly behind the trees and moved in her direction, she ran into her home. When she tried to continue recording video through her kitchen window, the lights were gone. The video and sound has not been altered and is played back as it was recorded. The video was taken around mid-night, on May 15th 2012 in Texas. Farm equipment? Fire fly's? Swamp gas? Make your own decision. I have made mine.
