    Project Norotors

Alright mid summer last year i sold my 1995 240sx because i felt like trying a different car for awhile i still like 240s and will probably get another eventually, So i sold my s14 and picked up a 87 rx7 fc i always wanted a fc and this one had a interesting engine swap ( 1987 ford thuderbird turbo coupe engine/trans 2.3 turbo with t5 trans). it needed work but i liked the body and figured it would be a fun cleaning it up and having some fun driving it so enough talking heres some pictures of it

The motor looks clean for what it is. The chassis looks great as well. Good buy on your part!

As far as engine management, you should look into the PiMP ECU's.

That's a pretty cool swap though. I had a Mustang SVO and really like the turbo 2.3 and I've always liked FC's. I hope to pick up an FC eventually to go along with my RX8.

I hope to see more updates!

Thanks guys yeah i do want to own a rotary vehicle sooner or later but this just looked like such a fun project. I ordered my gasket set last night so hopefully its going to be here within the next week. Tonight i started prepping it for getting the engine pulled.
    -drive shaft is out
-all fluids drained and radiator removed
-all intercooler piping it removed ( hopefully getting powder coated but well see)
    -bumper off
-most of the wiring harness disconnected and label so when the engine is out i can rewrap everything and paint the bay cleaning it up as much as possible

My goal to have this car back on road before MCM Tour round 1 but i would like to have a few weeks of autocity test and tune before a event

So far i like the engine its very simple and has potential, I have looked into the Pimp Ecu`s i dont know how im going to tune this yet but that probably wont be till after this season because right now its a toss up from megasquirt and Pimp

Alright so tonight i have been working on the car the past few hours labeling all of the wiring harness plugs and removing the turbo/manifold and oil lines. The engine is about 90% ready to pull should be really easy to pull this engine with the amount of space in the bay and seeing as all the big stuff is already out of the way. But heres some pictures from tonight
After pulling the turbo and manifold i realized there is quite abit of shaft play back and forth but this doesn't matter much seeing as ill be going with a t3

And then took some measurements to make sure the next radiator will fit in the stock location the radiator that came out was a stock n/a 13b one and didnt cool this engine very well also was mount like shit
so here is some quick measurements firewall - camgear

So i had a buyer message me for my old suspension so off with the old

after i got all the wheels off i took alook around the underbody alittle better i will say im pretty pleased still have not found any rust the only thing that bugs me is the crushed frame rails but after depending on how long i keep this car ill just box them in eventually

My gasket set showed up today, hoping to have the engine/trans out this week.

Since im selling my tokico springs and struts im going with coilovers now im still debating on what brand to go with, any suggestions ?

Worked on the car today and pulled the engine wish i had a leveler but i just raised it as high as i could then lowered the car off the stands so it would clear the radiator support

and the wiring nightmare i call my rx7

Everything labeled so i can start wrapping, extending, and weeding through what is needed and can be deleted

engine ready for all new gaskets going in and awaiting new turbo

Up next is removing the rear subframe and ordering bushings, as soon as my aircat 1200 impact gets here

thanks dude, i doubt im going to be able to mount the radiator in the stock position but it would be nice, i also need to make mounts for the intercooler too. After looking at all the wiring in the bay im gonna need to print off the diagrams at work for the thunderbird and for the rx7 shits everywhere.

So i got out of work real early today so worked on the fc going back out to work on it more for a few but i pulled the engine out of the garage started cleaning it up

Once taking the valve cover off i was suprised how clean the inside was i have not noticed any real wear on the cam, i`m still learning so if you see anything out of the ordinary please let me know

Then started on cleaning the bay
Purple power This shit works great on grease build up

So later on that night i went back out and took out the dash so i could remove all the heater/blower motor and unnecessary things non of them worked and i dont plan on using them so figured to remove it when i have everything else already out
already removed the heater box and all will update with more pictures tonight at this point im thinking of doing black interior swap but i guess ill wait for that next winter or if/when i cage it
