Project Suba-Poo 2002 WRX; R154 Swap in the Works

Today I'll be breaching the 3k mark for money spent on the engine, so I figure it deserves a build thread haha

I bought a 2002 WRX a little while ago, for cheap(ish), knowing it needed some work

One compression test later and I know I'm running absolutely no compression at all in one of the cylinders, so the engine came out.

    ^my super nice ebay header

Turns out I had a burnt valve, a very burnt valve...

and after more digging around I figured out my pistons skirts were scuffed pretty bad but I don't have a picture of that.
However, I do have a picture of the new pistons and connecting rods I got...

    ^CP custom billet aluminium pistons

    ^Manley H-beam connecting rods

    ^The two together

and I've been a bit held up with work and arguing with the shop manager at the shop I work at about needing a diamond tipped hone to hone my cylinders, so if you know anything about that please let me know lol

The only thing I have done other than that is a set of rims and tires I got for next to nothing

I'm making another massive parts order today, so I'll update with more info on that later

I got side tracked at a friends bon fire, but as promised I'm posting more.
I ordered and have shipped already a full new set of Manley race valves, but I don't have a picture.

Just earlier today though, I ordered my Crower Stage 3 cams, and the matching Crower Valve Springs and Retainers kit, and I ordered my Cobb Accesport Tuning, all of which will have pictures posted when they arrive.

178000 on the body and engine, there's a little bit of surface rust on the roof and just a couple paint chips on the back bumper but other then that the body is in good shape, and I wasn't planning on doing anything with the crank and I am getting new bearings all of the way around.

Yes! actually.. haha I was talking to my uncle about boring my plated cylinders and according to him, whenever they rebuilt motorcycle engines with plated cylinders at the honda dealership he worked at they didn't bore cylinders as long as they were in good shape, they wore the rings in to cylinders as is, so if anyone else knows anything about this please let me know.

Ok, update time; I ordered complete upper and lower gasket sets and a timing belt, water pump, tensioner and pulley kit from subaru through my work, and I'm pick my block, crank, internals and bearings from there tomorrow to start reassembly, I have no reason to hone the cylinders so hopefully everything will come together quick and I'll have it done soon. I'll take a ton more pictures tomorrow of everything else I already have and of it starting to go together.
