Hello from Battle Creek's - 'Sadie'

My name is Charles McMillan and I am a 29 year old Leo who lives in central Michigan in the USA. I have been writing since I was 5 starting with small silly stories and have been roleplaying since I was 8 starting on (Bulletin Board Systems) BBS's as well as through Dungeons and Dragons. I had few to no friends as a child and well into my adult years due to the mentality that I was told was 'kids will be kids'.

I graduated High School in 2001, only a few short months before 9/11 occured and I still to this day remember what I was doing on that fateful day - I was in an interview for a job that I did not accept. I worked a number of factories for three years following that but unemployment was skyrocketting in Michigan so I enlisted in the US Army in August of 2004.

As a truck driver for the Army I deployed to Iraq in December 2004 straight out of Basic Training and AIT (Advanced Individual Training). For my job title I drove semis bearing on trailers ammunition and in tankers fuel thus anything that exploded went on my truck. I bore mute witness to friends dying and people being blown apart in IED's and was occasionally responsible for cleaning human remains out of trucks in 150-160 degree tempuratures. I also during my stay was assigned to duties of guarding the FOB we were stationed at as well as watching over local national drivers who were passing through the FOB (Forward Operating Base)'s area of control providing them with food, water, and fuel. I spent a year and a half in those conditions and came home but soon after wished I hadnt - some part of me will never leave that place.

I came home from Iraq to find myself in a different circumstance and followed a stupid route in Ft Carson Colorado - I married a stripper believing it might be possible for her to actually love me. What followed was a rollercoaster ride of lies on her part and me being abused and cheated on - my career with the US Army coming to an abrupt halt one evening when my then wife chose to beat the living shit out of me caused a flashback of events in Iraq - she went out to smoke a cigarette and I locked the door locking her out of the house and she called the cops. I was signalled by Colorado Springs PD to exit the home and did so unarmed and unaggressive just shortly before that coming out of the flashbacks, thrown to the ground with a shotgun to the back of my head, cuffed, and thrown in the back of a police car. I was put in isolation for several hours before being brought to jail while my jaw ached from her punching me across the face, my neck throbbed from her attempting to strangle me, and freely bleeding openings from her nails down both my arms. It wasnt until I was inprocessed to the jail that I was informed I was arrested for harrassment as I waited to hear from JAG or the judge. Coming before the judge two days later I was informed by the DA of Colorado Springs that if I rose my voice even so much as to ask her to get off of me that I was guilty of domestic violence through a misdemeanor of harrassment. I could not understand how I could be guilty of something when I was bloody and bruised - which come to find out is a statute that whoever calls the police first is innocent - but I knew I couldnt handle staying in jail much longer especially since JAG was showing no interest at all in helping me. I was released from the US Army general under honorable conditions because of a civil infraction based on domestic violence which took my right to bear arms away.

Following my career in the army I became a civilian truck driver for two years and drove 80,000 lb loads in a semi across the country dealing with assholes in 2000 lb cars cutting me off and expecting 80,000 lbs to stop as quickly as 2,000 lbs. News flash: It doesnt.

After two years of that I got sick and after three days of being sick I went to the ER where I was misdiagnosed by doctors who said that I had a bowel obstruction when my appendix had burst and ruptured. Body filling with poison for a week the doctors put me into a medical coma that took 45 days, 11 surgeries, and 4 near death experiences including internal bleedings and a burst lung to be where I am today. During the course of the surgeries they had to put a subdermal mesh in so the flesh would close over the wounds because I had lost so much weight. A year after the day of my release from SC VA I was taken back to the Battle Creek VA due to vomitting anything I ate and drank and thus sent to Battle Creek Bronson's ER where I was informed by the medical staff that I should go home and pray without being told what was wrong - they pumped my stomach and sent me on my way. A week later I was re-admitted to the Battle Creek VA for the same reason and sent to Kalamazoo Bronson ER where my stomach was pumped and one surgeon told me to go home and pray refusing to do surgery based on the previous scarring. The head surgeon upon checking on me however changed this opinion when I asked him to just kill me seeing as if every week I had to come to the ER to get my stomach pumped it wasnt worth it. The head surgeon put me in for surgery that weekend telling the first surgeon I saw that that was no way to live. Following recovery from those surgeries (less than two weeks later) I came before a judge finalizing my divorce from my now exwife which the state of Colorado had previously refused because I had no means to find her as she went to the state of Texas to sleep with random men and noone would tell me a way to get the divorce paperwork to her. Two months prior to the divorce proceedings I also finalized bankrupcy to clear debts that I could not afford to pay that my ex had racked up in my name by telling banks "My husband is deployed and gives me no money."

I am now a disabled veteran. Unemployable because I cannot lift over ten pounds due to the mesh in addition to anxiety, PTSD, and other military related maladies. Driving is my way of relaxing and escaping the stresses that life throws at us - it is my love.

After my recovery from my surgeries I started looking for a new car as my then daily driver was a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula which was too low to be comfortable to climb into and out of. Searching for a preferably AWD sports car I came to learn about Subaru and the STI and started a search across the neighboring 5 states to find one. After a number of weeks of searching I located a world rally blue STI in Chicago IL and had my parents sign for a loan due to the recent bankrupcy on my part as I paid my parents monthly for the insurance and loan payments until April of 2012 when I was able to take on the loan myself.

That 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI then became Sadie - the car which this page is all about - the car which will carry sponsors (none presently) and charities (such as Scoobies for Boobies, Keep a Breast, World Motorsports Breast Cancer Foundation, and Wounded Warrior Project) in carshows, events, and Gumballs.

That car, Sadie, is my pride and joy - that spectacular thing that keeps me going - and is supported with parts and advice by people such as Defined Performance, Speed Industry and others...
