Moving from Miami to Auburn Hills: boosted S2K

Hey Guys,

I'm making a move from Miami to Auburn Hills this July in prep for grad school and I wanted to get a taste of how active the car community is down here.

I would like to know if there are members or meets in the auburn hills area.

how big is the street racing scene here?
and how big is the drag scene at the tracks?

According to the map, I'm going to be fairly close by the waterford hills road racing strip. does anyone know if they have an active drag strip there, or is it just track racing?

anyway, I look forward to meeting some of you- I'm hoping the scene is just as active here as it is in Miami. Let me know if youre in my area!

About my car:

I have a fully built 2008 S2000
E85, full turbo kit, V160 supra transmission conversion, and much more...
currently I'm pushing 700whp/489wtq @21psi.

#5. Closest straight line track is probably lapeer which is a shit hole. I recommend Milan which is about 1.5 hours from you. Or Norwalk in Ohio which I would rate top 5 tracks in the country.

Come out to woodward. I don't condone street racing myself, but if you were to find something i guess woodward on fri sat night would be the time. Also, if you're going to be up here June 9th, you should come to the xceedspeed BBQ. There is tons of threads and events in the events area.

Buying a beater is one of the first things im doing when I get there. And I'll probably do the monthly self storage thing for the S2K in the winter.
Trust me, this move was not for the interest of my car, thats for sure. School is obviously more important.

Thanks for the info. Where exactly is the location and times in Woodward that they meet? And are the meets in Woodward consistent?

Just drive down Woodward on a Friday or Saturday night. Usually people gather just north of 13 mile road. Trust me, you won't miss it. (it's about a 30 minute drive for you, but it also is for me and i do it every weekend) It's worth it, if you can weed out the idiots that is.

I deal with my share of idiots in Miami in the scene as well so I know the deal.
Do people street race there or is it more like chillouts? Are there areas for street runs where the roads are smooth and away from the population? And do the cops mess with people in that area?

I wish xceed had a location sub section for specific areas in michigan- it would be a lot easier to see whats going on locally

Hmm. Other than highway rolls i have no idea what or how street racing goes down. Most highways and cruising roads are smooth though. I just go to hardpark and chill. lol

If you want legit street racing, you're gonna have to head deep into the hood. So i've heard. The drag racing area on this forum is a joke, most all people who have fast cars know each other personally.

I have some more noob questions:
Im trying to post a picture for my signature, but it just shows as the link instead of the picture in the signature. how do I fix this?
Also, when I try to edit my avatar, it won't let me. It has a dot on the bypass option and wont let me take it off when i click it (as shown in the pic). whats up with this?

Need to be a paid member. I think it's $10 for a year (green username like mine), or $5 a year for the lower end one(blue username). It will be at the bottom of your control panel on the left there.

As for regions, well, probably 60% of the site is in the Detroit Metro area. So when you see stuff, look at people's location under their avatar, check out where things are in the Events section, and just learn as you go.

Definitely check out Woodward. It's huge, though probably nothing compared to your Miami stuff. I mean, that IS where 2Fast 2Furious took place.

Thanks! Yea, Miami's scene is non stop- its nuts! Im not expecting the same here, especially with the winters, but it would just be nice to meet a good group. I'll definitely check all that out.

Also, is there a thread that has an ordered power chart list for members cars or something like that? Ive seen many other forums do that...
