Nice car! We don't get snow in Southern Michigan anymore so skiing is out of the question at Mt. Holly and Brighton. You will still want to store the car because of salt and idiot drivers.

    Welcome and nice ride!

You're gonna miss FL roads, fuck MI roads. If it weren't for money I spent on repairs thanks to MI roads, my car would be so much nicer... probably the story of everyone's life on here...

Yup. That money would be better spent elsewhere.

i love it.....the beachs are as nice in the summer a south beach minus topless chicks in thongs. but we dont have sharks and other creatures that eat you...lol. the east side of the state you get the sun riseing over the lake and on the west side of the state you get beautiful sunsets over the lake....and do remember the lakes are so big you cannot see the other side, it will remind you of the ocean. the mountains up north although not as good as out west do provide very nice ski/snowboard conditions with little more than a few hour drive..... you get a break from the endless heat of southern florida in the spring and fall. the most gotgous fall colors you have ever seen. no emissions. decent car scene. good people. you have speed industries right over by you with inhouse dyno. several quality road courses and drags strips... plenty of plus'

    I love where I live

People are just down on Michigan because they think it's the crapper. Not everything is, but Michigan got hit HARD by the recession and is just now rebounding somewhat.
There's a trick to being whatever you want to be in life.
It starts with the simple belief that you are what or who you say you are. It starts, like all faiths, with a belief-a belief predicated more on whimsy than reality. And you've gotta believe for everybody else, too - until you can show them proof. If you're lucky, someone starts believing with you - first theoretically, then in practice. And two people believing are the start of a congregation. You build a congregation of believers and eventually you set out to craft a cathedral. Sometimes it's just a church; sometimes it turns out to be a chapel. Folks who don't build churches will try to tell you how you're doing it wrong, even as your steeple breaks the clouds. Never listen.- From TOUGH SHIT

Some parts of the state are starting to rebound (right...), Detroit definitely isn't.

Auburn Hills is a decent area, though, OP should be fine.

I dont have any problems with the shittyness that detroit is... I only go there for cool shit anyway... I wouldnt technically call Birmingham, RoyalJoke, auburn hills, utica, s heights... etc.... ghetto...

The car industry here is pumping out money pretty quickly into the burb areas, and things are only getting better.

Brock, you are probably a 30 minute drive from any real "ghetto" detroit areas... and you will only go there if you want to.

Trust me, this move was not for the interest of my car, thats for sure. School is obviously more important.

Thanks for the info. Where exactly is the location and times in Woodward that they meet? And are the meets in Woodward consistent?
Do you know anybody's screen name on here that is in that area so I can pm them?

I'll be there by Mid July so I wont be able to make the bbq

this car seems familiar. You wouldn't by chance have a Precision 6262 on there do you? I may have seen this car on Honda-Tech recently. (I'm thinking with neons at one time or another just to give it nice edge, since it was tastefully done).

It does have 6262, his build is in the project logs.

Now that we've started the "where we live sucks" debate.

I'd rather live in Michigan than Florida. We don't have hurricanes, and a bunch of illegals speaking a different language.

Just snow, and a very very high murder rate. With a corrupt mayor. And the worst roads ever. And the highest unemployment rate.... 313 fo life!!!

    All I can say is:
    You have a nice car.
    The roads suck.
    Watch out for shady people/scenes.
Find yourself a good friend(s) AND THEN go racing.
Get a CCW. Cause you're baller.
Go to Shanty Creek resorts up north. One of the better valued and more fun resorts I've been to.
You will learn to love this place.

Welcome! I'm in the Rochester Hills area right by Oakland University so I'll probably see you around. I'm an old guy so I don't know many of the people personally on here, but they seem to be a decent group of people. Stay away from Pontiac, it's a dump, keep your car stored in a garage or storage, watch out for idiot drivers and ass hat ricers, and enjoy your stay in Michigan. I'm originally from Los Angeles and for a few years wanted to go back there, but Michigan grows on you and I'm still here. Cost of living is reasonable, you get the four seasons that you don't get in Florida, and generally friendly preople. As for skiing, nothing really here to impress. Pine Knob, Holly, Brighton, they are all merely bumps and not mountains since Michigan is basically flat, so no winding mountain roads to race on either. Boyne Mountain is bareable for snowboarding, but the closest real mountain is Blue Mountain in Canada for skiing.

Nice ride! Can't wait to see it in person!
