I've yet to find a bugeye WRX that hasn't been beaten to piss. I'd rather spend that $10k and buy an old fox body Mustang, then beef it to hell and
kick WRX ass all day long.

I never said they weren't abused, just that they were under $10k. And abused cars are what high school kids drive. This isn't a debate of what kind of car you or I would buy with a $10k budget. It was about what cars the high school kids would be driving. On top of being inexpensive, the bugeyes are relatively cheap to insure, 5 star safety rated, AWD, etc. All of those factor into whether or not parents will help their kid buy their first car. I'm sorry, but no parent in their right mind is going to hand the keys to a 3000lb, rear-wheel drive car with a 5.0 under the hood to a 16 or 17 year old kid.

It's going to be the SRT-4 and Cobalt SS as the big ones. They're cheap and have forced induction. Just look at Woodward on the weekends. Half the drivers of these appear to be sophomores in high school.

I got a ex police caprice with an lt-1 that rocked pretty hard for a first car, being ex county it was like 2500 bucks and it was pretty solid. I'm suprised I don't see more people with ex crown vics, I think alot of them have the same DT as the mustangs, except way cheaper, and you don't feel bad for dinging them up.

I'm surprised that the S2000 didn't make it. I'm sure it'll be cheaper than the BMW in 5-10 years...
