We could even use it for limited secure parking while attending local events in the area. Like if you were hitting the Majestic, The Orchestra House, a Museum, a sports game, etc.
I'm throwing around business ideas for a potential future project. This would be on Woodward close to Downtown Detroit. Imagine a motorcycle lounge but for car guys(and women). This would have a modern flavor. Old School Muscle guys would be welcome but this would not be a nostalgic type business.
It would have...
an area to rent a lift and tools. A parts/car display area and shop. Lounge with racing arcade games, pool, air hockey, Flat screens (motorsports coverage on often, other sports take a back seat), drinks(if I can get a liquor license) and snacks or bar food. There would be plenty of parking out front with room to hang out, pop hoods, talk about cars, listen to music, well lit in the evening, etc. What do you guys think? I'm staying away from being a "shop" on purpose so feel free to offer any suggestions other than that.
CD3 Performance Owner. Need parts? I can get them.
Own or interested in a Fusion, Milan, MKZ, Edge, or MKX? See link below!

some things are better kept a dream.
I'd check it out once maybe though (if it was here in Phoenix)
should have left it stock
If you could get a liquor license and have a small kitchen to serve a limited menu of food. That should bring the people. As well as a decent lot.

But to keep it just a free use it bay, etc... and a meeting spot, it's going to be hard to get constant cash flow to keep it up with taxes and all. And who knows hwat kind of "traffic" it can bring.
Not trying to knock on it, just trying to see past the dream to the fact that it's a biiiig gamble.
There's a trick to being whatever you want to be in life.It starts with the simple belief that you are what or who you say you are. It starts, like all faiths, with a belief-a belief predicated more on whimsy than reality. And you've gotta believe for everybody else, too - until you can show them proof. If you're lucky, someone starts believing with you - first theoretically, then in practice. And two people believing are the start of a congregation. You build a congregation of believers and eventually you set out to craft a cathedral. Sometimes it's just a church; sometimes it turns out to be a chapel. Folks who don't build churches will try to tell you how you're doing it wrong, even as your steeple breaks the clouds. Never listen.- From TOUGH SHIT

Would be difficult to break even with money wise. Nice idea though.
Would have to be in a clean safer part of Detroit which I am guessing would put this out of financial reach. If it worked out good I would give it a try but normaly stay out of the D other then special events like the auto show, autorama, and autox's on the island.

Sounds like a Motorcycle club house but for Cars... without the club part.
like a weaker version of Sons of Anarchy. And without all the whores and illegal activites.

Beer and a lift don't typically work out, in my judgment. "I'm going to drink, hold this oxy-acetylene torch, after I get this bitch on a lift!

Oh well, I can still swap out the o2 sensor!
I would probably show up once in a while, but probably not work on a car unless I knew a slow time.
Stuffs.
I would go deeper with the business plan even though as you say this is still and idea in its infancy I have a feeling it could work with good food and some drinks. The less liabilities the better of course. Oh and um WI-FI please.
