2005 XceedSpeed Fall BBQ Official Information Post

The official 2005 Fall Xceedspeed bbq is almost here! Please check this thread often for updates and information that may be useful to you as you plan to attend this awesome event.

Where is it and when?
Date: October 8TH
Location: Willow Metropark - North Big Bend Pavilion

Park address: 32911 Huron River Dr, New Boston, MI 48164

The park is VERY easy to find without the address.. Just take 275 to exit 11 - South Huron Rd. The park entrance is right off that exit. I don't know where mapquesting that address will take you so you may want to just get yourself on 275 and go to exit 11. 275 should be pretty easy for everyone to get to seeing how 94, 696, 96 and a few other major expressways hit it. The distance to this park isn't much more than the distance to Kensington for most of you Detroit area people. For everyone else, I'm sorry but it'll be worth the drive I'm sure.

A word of warning... we're in a small lot.. Due to some big cross country thing going on at Willow, they bumped us to my 3rd choice lot and I just want to warn people that it's small. Plenty of grass to park on so hopefully that's not a problem and it's kinda off away from any of the big people places like the pool and skate park. Just want to warn everyone so I don't hear complaints all day about how small the lot is

Get there early for good spots!

This will be a BBQ/UTL day. Come enjoy the company of the BBQ and then head to Milan Dragway to watch the final UTL event of 2005 happen.

Who is welcome?
Who's welcome? EVERYONE! Yes, we don't care what you drive or if you're an active member on Xceedspeed, we welcome everyone to our bbq. If you've came to our UTL events, come out to this. If you lurk on the site but don't post, come on out. If you just heard about this site because your grandson is on it, come on out with the kid. Basically we welcome anyone and everyone to this event. If you've never been to one of the 2 BBQ'S we throw every year, you need to come to this one. They are always a blast, packed with people, good times, new friends and old. I don't think I've ever been to an event that quite rivals our BBQ's and I'm not just saying that because it's my site

The only exception to this welcome is people who are coming to start trouble or act like retards. We've not had that problem yet and I'd like to think it'll stay that way. If your intent is to cause problems, just stay home.

What is needed of me?
As with every year, XceedSpeed's staff will provide you with hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, and basic condiments. We ask that everyone bring something to share with the group. This could be a bag of chips, a case of pop, whatever you feel like bringing. If you want to get fancy and cook up a batch of grandma's baked beans.. trust me, they'll be eaten. Basically this is a community effort to make it work. We also need a few people to volunteer to bring plates, napkins, forks and plastic cups. PM me if you want to chip in on those types of things. If you're broke and can't afford to bring anything, please don't let that stop you from coming. We don't keep track of who brings what and we'd rather you be at the BBQ than sitting at home wishing you were there.

Is there anything else I can do?
We run this site and these BBQ's mostly out of our own pockets and in order to help finance the cost, we have a raffle of some sort each year. A lot of people ask if they can donate money to help and we always point them to the raffle box. If you want to give money, give it in a way that may help you too. By buying raffle tickets, you give yourself a chance to win something cool and you help XceedSpeed pay for events such as this one.

As always, we are looking for prizes donated by people or businesses to raffle off. This is a great way to get your name mentioned in front of a huge group of people .. and we usually try to plug you several times. The donation will also get you some free banner advertising which helps.. plus we make sure everyone is well aware of what businesses help XceedSpeed put on events like this. If you're interested in donating something for the raffle or you're a business who wishes to help with some of the cost of the BBQ, please PM me or email at brad@xceedspeed.com

I'll see if it works out, I'll be learning how to drive a stock car(Nascar) around those times... But it might work out good because I have the days requested off. Woo hoo! my first xceed BBQ!

Unfortunately October is too full of other events and I don't think we'll be able to set up a date that doesn't conflict with something else. I'm already worried about weather on the 15th.. don't wan't to make it any later. The only thing we would have left would be October 29th which is pretty late in the year.

UPDATE: PLEASE READ THE FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD. The date is being evaluated and possibly changed again
