Maybe this time next year you'll see it on the road (crossing fingers).

Nothing but more welding today. Got in a few support bars for the hatch floor and bent & stitched a filler strip to tie the body in. The hatch floor will be a sheet of aluminum.

Shaved the engine bay. Not a "show shave" (bondo every seam, cover every hole) but a race shave as I would call it. Welded every hole that was not used and ground all the seam putty down smooth. I will not use bondo or filler anywhere since it is not a show car. This will still look very clean and the way i want it to be.

Tomorrow should yield a primer coat after I finishing sanding.

There's a trick to being whatever you want to be in life.
It starts with the simple belief that you are what or who you say you are. It starts, like all faiths, with a belief-a belief predicated more on whimsy than reality. And you've gotta believe for everybody else, too - until you can show them proof. If you're lucky, someone starts believing with you - first theoretically, then in practice. And two people believing are the start of a congregation. You build a congregation of believers and eventually you set out to craft a cathedral. Sometimes it's just a church; sometimes it turns out to be a chapel. Folks who don't build churches will try to tell you how you're doing it wrong, even as your steeple breaks the clouds. Never listen.- From TOUGH SHIT

    Thanks man.

Spent a few more hours and sanded/scuffed the entire engine bay to finally lay the first coat of primer! Amazing how much better it looks with just primer after seeing rust/dirt & holes everywhere for 4 years.

Prepping the interior for paint is the next major step. That's going to be a royal PIA.

Spent a total of 8 hrs this weekend sanding/cleaning to finally lay primer on the interior. What a PIA, specially with all the surface rust I had to remove. Progress!

Final coat is down, and interior paint is complete! It looks amazing after being used to it covered in filth and dust from constant grinding and welding. The exterior of the car will be a breeze to paint compared to the interior. I may end up doing a Matte white wrap with gloss black/carbon graphics for the exterior.

Thanks. I am looking forward being able to bolt things back in, and leave them! Have to repair the exterior rust and prime. Then top coat the bay. After that, the more fun stuff can begin. Restoring the interior is something I do not look forward to again.

It's been awhile for an update. Tedious rust & undercarriage repair so nothing exciting to post, but you get to see what I am currently dealing with. As soon as the undercarriage and engine bay are painted, then the fun can begin again.

In the future, I'll either buy a clean shell for next project car. I am not doing this again to a shell unless it can go on a rotisserie.

    Here's hoping...
